About this beverage can

A drink can is two pieces: a body drawn and ironed from one aluminium disc into a seamless cup with a wall a tenth of a millimetre thick, necked in at the top, and a separate end double-seamed onto it, with a rivet, a stay-on tab and a scored opening panel. The base is a dome standing on a narrow rim, there to take the pressure of the drink. This mockup builds all of that from your diameter class and height.

Cans come in three diameters, slim 53, sleek 58 and standard 66 mm, and the volume is set by the height; the ten presets run from a 200 ml slim to a 500 ml standard. Bare aluminium shows through wherever your artwork has no white, which is how a metallic print looks; a white base coat gives opaque colour. The varnish runs from matte to gloss, and the end and tab take their own colour.

The wrap is one image round the body, front at the centre and the seam at the back, sized in millimetres for the printer's template.

Questions

Why can't I set any diameter?

Cans are made in three diameters, 53, 58 and 66 mm, with ends and necks to match; the height is where the sizes differ, so that is the slider.

Can I use my own sizes?

Yes. Each product has sliders for its main dimensions and presets for the common sizes; everything else, such as wall thickness or spine width, follows from them.

What size should my artwork be?

The Artwork panel shows each area's print size in millimetres for the current settings; prepare the file at that size, at 300 dpi if it is for print too.
